What is the Journey of Hope
(JOH) program,
why do families participate and why is it so
important for these particular orphans?
The Journey of Hope program is
an international
summer camp program
which allows older orphans (ages 5 to 12) to
visit and live with
American host families
for three to four weeks
during the summer.
Families
usually participate
because
they are interested in adopting. The
orphans visit gives the parents, family
members, and the
orphans
an opportunity to get
to know each other in an informal home setting.
This helps determine whether a permanent loving
bond could begin which may lead to a successful
adoption.
However some families participate
because
they want to help orphans
meet other families who are interested in
adoption. The orphans attend JOH
picnics and “get-togethers”,
during their visit, where the children
hopefilly will meet thier
future parents.
This
program is important because
for
orphans over the age of four, this is their last
remaining hope for adoption. A terrible
reality facing all orphans
is if you are
not adopted by age four,
you will probable never be adopted. Your
remaining childhood
will be spent in orphanage after
orphanage until your
sixteenth birthday, when you
will be released to
begin your adult life.
Please consider opening
your hearts and home by submitting an
application
